Banana-Avo Protein Smoothie

I love bananas. I love avocados. And I love chocolate. So this was just a combination of everything I like thrown into the blender!

In our hot weather, whenever I needed a cool mid afternoon snack, instead of reaching out for ice cream, I’d make this instead 😁

COOKING TIME SERVES CUISINE
10 minutes 2 snack

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 banana
  • 1 avocado
  • 800 ml unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp protein chia powder
  • 2-3 ice cubes

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Throw everything into a blender.
  2. Blend.
  3. Pour into glass.
  4. Drink up and enjoy!

Helpful Tips:

  1. I sometimes keep a few ripe bananas (before they over-ripen) in a Ziploc bag in the freezer. This preserves the bananas and ensures a refreshingly cool smoothie. You can skip the ice cubes if you are using frozen bananas.
  2. You can have a love-hate relationship with avocados. When they are at their perfect stage of “ripeness”, they’re beautiful to work with. Wait 30 seconds too long, they over-ripen and their flesh turns brown.
  3. If you prefer your smoothie to have a consistency that’s more like a milk shake, i.e. less liquid-y, use less almond milk. About 700 to 750 ml would work.
